Migration processes are the moving forces that formed the appearance and the rules of living in Mediterranean environment. The increasing development speed of tourist technologies exerts pressure on coastal areas and has the characteristics of a highly effective and complex system. New immigrants, tourists who colonize the areas of exceptional quality, can be considered the forerunners of the next Mediterranean genesis at the time of new conceiving and defining of coastal areas. The spectacular landscape is transformed into different forms of leisure, so that it could provide the feeling of something new and unstained, almost platonic and pure.
The Parasite hotel seeks for answers by creating new hybrid typologies for permanent, occasional, and temporary tenants, through the parallel development of the system of public spaces and social contents connected with the tourist programs. By conceiving hotel typology as part of (inhabitable) municipal infrastructure, the immanent quality of an area as the basis of the coastal regions’ identity is amplified.
