URBANISTS SEASON (November 2011 – May 2012)

Croatian architects' association, in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb and the Croatian Chamber of Architects, is organizing the series of events under the title “Urbanists Season” that will be taking place in Zagreb from November 2011. to May 2012.

It is our best wish to include in the event the presentation of recent best practice examples of urban projects. Our idea is that urban project would be presented integrally by different actors - representatives of respectable public development agency, city government, urbanists, architects etc.

Urbanists Season will be the first systematic review, promotion and valorization of discipline of urban planning in its broadest sense, since Croatian achievement of independence.

Urbanists Season includes several events:

  • OPENING / FIRST CONFERENCE – 30th November 2011.

  • FINAL CONFERENCE – May 17-18th 2012.

- Guest speakers from Lyon, Barcelona and Vienna

- Accompanied by the Exhibition of 20 years of Town and Physical Planning in Croatia

- Cca 300 attendees expected, mostly from Croatia

The central theme of the event will be the recycling of urban territories as the key issue of spatial development of Croatia, which covers the development of all local ambiances wherever they are located, on the coast or continent.

To learn from the good examples of desirable urban development, originate in comparable conditions, we will invite international speakers - representatives of the three European cities: Barcelona (22@Barcelona), Lyon (Confluence Quartier), and Vienna (STEP).

Throughout the event, we intend, as far as possible, to promote interdisciplinary approach and unity of the discipline of spatial planning, urbanism and architecture.
