Intro The awards of this year want to represent the best of the general selection for an interpretation of the Croatian contemporary architecture, not only as a local "panorama" or a contextual production, but as a stimulating and vitalistic laboratory of research and innovation at the international level.
From this point of view, the first and the second awards –ex aequo– have been given to teams but also to trajectories that, in their professional activity (and in the different works that they have presented in this edition), have combined complex and transversal approaches in relation to the different keys and lines of action that have articulated the internal structure of this selection: teams that offer different contributions on the scales of the city or the architectural object, the landscape or the sensorial environment.

For two teams with a wide and common, conceptual and innovative approach in their respective lines of research that represent the struggle of a personal conviction implicated in the international projection of a Croatian creation as an ambitious and referential node of the contemporary cultural framework.

	comment Helena Paver Njirić Architect, in relation with her far-reaching treatment of the environment as a sensitive and sensorial field. Her honest and sensible approach to different spatial scales emerges in this edition as a special quality of her research of new urban and environmental patterns and platforms (especially interesting in the proposal for the Urban Development Plan of Gračani in Zagreb) and so does the good resolution of the presented different and intense spaces of experience and memory. In this sense we want to stress her project for the New Permanent Display of the Jasenovac Memorial Exhibition, in collaboration with Leonida Kovač (curatorial conception).		comment Njiric+ Architects, in relation with his important contribution to the actual reflections about the Landscape and the Habitat. The contribution of his works to the renovation of old topics associated with the urban and territorial conditions and living typologies is especially important for propitiating imaginative resolutions of new projects associated with increasingly present touristic phenomena and their subsequent impact on the territory. We want to point out the project for the Race House on Sljeme (Zagreb) as an experimental environmental habitat, the project for Touristic Housing Prototypes, and especially for the innovative Hotel Superdalmatia in Čiovo as a non-conventional architectural solution.

Second Prize ex aequo, for two teams representing a possible example of conviction determinism and confidence in the architectural practice, not only as a neutral "craft" question, but as a simultaneous individual concern with theoretical and cultural ways of thinking and acting. In this sense the award wants to distinguish both an experienced team and a young team with similar professional aptitudes and attitudes.

	coment Veljko Oluić - Tonci Zarnić, in relation with their constant contribution to the actual reflections about the new conditions of the city and the associated urban devices. The distinction wants to recognise the radical singularity and the striking graphic and spatial expression of a personal – theoretical and practical – approach involved in the definition of new and intense spatialities linked with a special synthetical and concise abstraction, far away from the common gestures of a conventional minimalism or from the languages of fashion. In this sense the award wants to highlight the projects for the Erste Bank Competition, for the National Test Centre and Educational Department in Zagreb, the Residential and Office Centre Bundek in Zagreb, and the construction of the Industrial Crafts and Technical School in Zadar, as a long and non-conventional emergence process of an evolutionary project.		comment Dinko Peračić - Roman Šilje, in relation with their fresh contribution to the actual transformations of the "architectural object". The distinction wants to recognise the quality and imagination of this recent production that can be representative of a new and "glocal" cosmopolitanism linked with the energies and researches of emerging voices in the Croatian panorama. The shining answers to projected different programs, contexts and typologies and the proposed respective resolutions, contemplated as direct "informational topologies", can illustrate a field of research involved with the evolution of the old architectural forms into new relational configurations. In this sense the award wants to give prominence to the proposals for the Elementary School and Gym on the location Ivanja Reka or the Sports Centre Grana-Klaka in Zagreb and especially the project for the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Osijek.

Finally, the awards want to distinguish three built proposals involved with social and state-subsidized housing for their capacity to combine economical systems of construction with non-conventional and expressive solutions, far away from the traditional austerity, rigor and anonymity of residential ensembles. In this sense the awards want to commend the projects of:
