Dr.sc. Stefano Boeri (Italy), selector of the 38th Zagreb Salon, finished making the selection of submitted works on September 29 and 30, 2003 in the premises of the Croatian Architects Association (UHA) on Ban Jelačić Square, 3/I Zagreb.

The selection was attended by selector assistant Ivica Čović, architect, members of the technical committee Zdravko Krasić, architect and Hrvoje Bakran, architect, and secretary of the 38th Zagreb Salon, Silva Kalčić, art historian.

The technical committee concluded that a total of 441 works were received, all numbered in order of their arrival from 1 to 435.

13 works were received outside the competition rules, under the numbers 25, 84, 85, 87, 226, 227, 228, 229, 230, 232, 234, 415, 416.

24 works were received outside the competition for awards under the numbers 317, 327, 330, 331, 332, 333, 334, 335, 336, 337, 417, 418, 419, 420, 421, 422, 423, 424, 425, 426, 427, 428, 429, 430.

The selector eliminated 274 works in the first round of selections.
Seven thematic groups were subsequently established into which the remaining 154 works were grouped and ranked.

75 authorial works were selected for the EXHIBITION OF THE 38TH ZAGREB SALON / ARCHITECTURE / 2003, of which 65 are to compete for awards, and 10 are outside the competition for awards according to previously established stipulations of the 38th Zagreb Salon.

79 authorial works were selected to be exhibited in digital media, as projections in the same exhibition space within the framework of the exhibition, but outside the competition for awards.

The selector will sort a part of the works eliminated in the first round into categories, and these works will also be shown — taking into account the concept of the exhibition — in digital media.

The selector shall decide on the awards by the opening of the exhibition, as well as decide on the manner in which the selected works will be set up and presented at the exhibition.
