Stefano Boeri (born in Milan, 1956) is an architect (Ph.D. in Venice, 1989) teaching Urban Design at the Universities of Venice and Mendrisio. He is also a visiting professor at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam. He is an editor-in-chief of "Domus", the monthly magazine for architecture, design and communications. He regularly writes for the cultural supplement of the major Italian financial newspapers, the quotidian "Il Sole 24 Ore."
His studies have always been dealing with problems connected with the representation of contemporary territory and, in particular, with the analysis of the so-called "nebular" urban landscapes which now surround all major European cities.
In discovering the characteristics and evolutionary principles of these new territories he has often collaborated with photographers and artists.
Focusing on these themes, he has been the curator of several interdisciplinary exhibitions.

Together with Multiplicity research group, he is the author of USE-Uncertain States of Europe, a survey-installation involving a large network of European researchers (www.useproject.net). The USE installation was held in Bordeaux, Brussels, Tokyo (2001), Perth and Milan (2002). In the contemporary art exhibition "Documenta 11" (2002) in Kassel, Germany, Multiplicity has presented "Solid Sea", a laboratory-installation that aims to detect a new unpredictable nature of the Mediterranean Sea (www.multiplicity.it). Boeri lectures extensively in Europe, Japan and USA and he has published numerous articles and essays in specialised and general-interest magazines. His work has been published in main collective books, perceived as the Eclectic Atlases of the contemporary urban condition:

- Multiplicity, USE-Uncertain States of Europe, Skira, Milan, 2002

Boeri’s professional activity has been focused mostly on projects for the renewal of coastal areas in Southern Europe. In 2001 he has been selected to represent Italy at the "New Trend of Architecture in Europe and Japan" Exhibition (Tokyo, Porto, Rotterdam).
